A Word About Creativity
Before we discuss our first prompt and brainstorm ideas for the project, we need to understand how to get ideas and be creative.

Many students say, "I am just not creative," however
many people who work in and understand creative fields
know that, "Nothing is completely original, all
creative work builds on what came before."-
     Austin Kleon (2012)

Many creative people are no more naturally creative than others,
they just know how to research ideas, make
connections between those ideas formulate their
own opinions, and generate "new" work that is a
reflection of their own research and ideas. This is
where your sketchbook / visual journal come into
play, it is a place to store the evidence for your creativity and
thought process before creating your sculptures and
ceramics, during the building and glazing, all the way through
      to the end
      finished product.

How Will I STEAL IDEAS LIKE AND ARTIST?
So, when given your first prompt, you will be shown tools to help
you think, and more importantly research ideas creatively.
We will discuss using webs and mapping you and your peers
thoughts to visually link ideas from one to another, as well as
use visual and textual resources to draw inspiration from.
Sketchbook / Visual Journal
After researching ideas that are related to your prompt, you will narrow in one ones that you find visually compelling,
emotionally fullfilling, or structurally interesting and start sketching your own project ideas. Please remember that all of
your research (including text from books, pictures form magazines, color searches for ideas) will be recorded within your
        sketchbook or visual journal.
