Sketchbook / Visual Journal
After researching ideas that are related to your prompt, you will narrow in one ones that you find visually compelling, emotionally fullfilling, or structurally interesting and start sketching your own project ideas. Please remember that all of your research (including text from books, pictures form magazines, color searches for ideas) will be recorded within your sketchbook or visual journal.
Why are We Using Prompts to Create our Projects? 1. 21st Century Learner: In Ceramics 2, a prompt is designed to force you to think more independently and more creatively. In the 21st century more and more jobs are looking for young people who are flexible thinkers, creative thinkers, problem solvers, and a people who can see and make connections between to two seemingly unrelated ideas. These skills along with many others are directly supported by creative prompts and are skills that you will be better off having in whatever field you choose to pursue. 2. Self-Expression/ Self Values: In this class what techniques you use to create your work isn't as important as what your work represents or means and what that tells the Viewers of your work about your thoughts and opinions as an artist and a person. 3. Visual Communication: Today's modern world is a very visual culture. We understand a lot of the world through what we see, read, experience in Movies, Books, Advertisements, Television, Video Games and much more. |
